Takashi Murakami, is an internationally acclaimed contemporary Japanese artist also known as 'the Warhol of Japan'. His work includes paintings, prints and sculptures as well as commercial merchandise, fashion and animation. He is most known for his contemporary art movement 'Superflat' in which he depicts both the characteristics of traditional Japanese art and post-war Japanese culture and society. In the space of half a century Murakami has written a whole new chapter on contemporary art. Murakami supports and manages Japanese local young artists through his company Kaikai Kiki. Murakami has also collaborated with famous brands and artists, such as, Louis Vuitton, Kanye West and most recently Pharrell Williams.
